Who can join?
Membership is open to:
- Owners of veteran, vintage and classic vehicles
- Enthusiasts currently restoring a historic vehicle
- Supporters of motoring heritage
- Individuals and families interested in becoming part of our community.
You do not need to own a vehicle to join – enthusiasm is just as important as ownership.
Membership Fees
Membership fees are reviewed annually.
- Annual Membership renewal date is July 1
- New members joining on or after 1st of May will be covered for the following financial year.

How to apply

- Arrange payment of annual membership fees
- Recieive confirmation of your membership

Historic Vehicle Registration (South Australia)
Supporting Responsible Historic Motoring
Friends of Vintage Motoring proudly supports members participating in the South Australian Historic and Left-Hand Drive Vehicle Registration Scheme.
Historic registration allows eligible vehicles to be driven on a conditional basis while preserving their heritage status. Our club is committed to ensuring members understand both the privileges and responsibilities associated with this scheme.
What Is Historic Registration?
Historic registration is available to eligible vehicles that meet age and condition requirements under South Australian legislation.
It provides:
- Reduced registration costs
- Conditional road use (log book system where applicable)
- Recognition of the vehicle’s historic status
- Club endorsement support
This scheme exists to preserve automotive heritage while allowing responsible enjoyment of historic vehicles.
How We Support Our Members
Friends of Vintage Motoring assists members by:
- Verifying vehicle eligibility
- Providing required club endorsement
- Confirming financial membership status
- Offering guidance on compliance requirements
- Assisting with renewal documentation
- Promoting responsible vehicle use
We take our role seriously and work to ensure all vehicles endorsed by our club meet scheme standards.
Member Responsibilities
Members participating in the historic registration scheme must:
- Maintain current financial membership
- Adhere to Code of Practice
- Ensure vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant
- Adhere to logbook requirements (where applicable)
- Notify the club of vehicle changes or transfers
- Abide by all South Australian registration conditions
Our goal is to protect the integrity of the scheme, so it remains available for future generations.
Vehicle Eligibility
Generally, eligible vehicles include:
- Veteran vehicles
- Vintage vehicles
- Classic vehicles meeting age requirements
- Historically significant vehicles
